my final notice from brooklyn for now!!! a short one before i depart x
it is sunday. our flight leaves later tonight. jupe is situated at uncle matt’s house. the apartment is ready for the subletter. our bags are packed and ready to go. we are sitting here. eating what’s left in the fridge and getting rid of what we can’t eat. playing fortnite before we can’t play fortnite anymore.
feels insane to say, but we’re off on our euro adventure today! we will be hopping on an overnight that will drop us off in amsterdam tomorrow morning. i’ll spare you the details of our itinerary for now, but stay tuned for ig stories, tiktoks, photos, etc. just know that i am excited, i’m a little nervous, and extremely ready to walk and see and eat. remains to be seen if i’ll have the time or desire to write this newsletter while i’m away but i’ll try to! if not, you’ll see me digitally in other ways i’m sure, don’t miss me too much ;)
work has been obligingly manageable (irritating still but manageable). godwilling it stays that way for at least six weeks. it was so, so light during this week which was a huge blessing. i have an exciting freelance prospect on the horizon (rhymes with bifa borld bup), that hopefully materializes in some silly, goofy hours over the next couple of months.
since my last email, my time have been focused on this trip but i’ve had a very nice time enjoying myself outside of work/trip planning. seeing friends, chatting with friends, knitting, watching, sleeping. kind of unfortunate bc i started getting sad about not being in ny during september which is such a stellar month in the city. but i remind myself that i have been planning and saving for these next weeks for 8 months so. So! i will have a great and relaxing time abroad and my life will be here when i return <3
craft-wise, i’ve foolishly started another knit project. a polo knit in this beautiful gradient yarn. it will lay unfinished though until i return.
media-wise, i’ve been rewatching stuff. squeezed in a couple movies that i’ve enjoyed!!!
skate kitchen: i really enjoyed this. laidback, almost documentary style, coming of age. reminded me a lot of teenage emotions, a really phenomenal film/doc (?) that followed these young high schoolers around and felt so real,
death becomes her: had this on the list for a while and finally pushed to watch bc of sabrina carpenter’s ‘taste’ mv. this was so great, i imagined it to be campy, glittery fun and it was that and more. meryl streep, well-known legend that she is, is even more legendary than i ever knew. how she could do sophie’s choice and then this!!!! bruce willis was also excellent, i did not recognize him until angel pointed it out! gorgeous and funny and so much fun!!!
i probably won’t have loads of time to watch movies whilst away but there will be a lot more idle sitting btwn flights, to/from airports, sightseeing, so i’m looking forward to doing a lot of reading on my kindle!! stay tuned, i hope to read 3 books while away 🤞 it IS on the itinerary though to hit up some choice iconic movie theaters while abroad. if not to actually sit and watch a whole movie, at least so i can stare at the building.
rolling stone update
#435: pet shop boys’ actually! ik my mom really likes pet shop boys. i’m familiar w their song ‘rent’ bc of saltburn. i really enjoyed this album, but idk if i’ll ever return to it mmm…. 7/10 hm?
that’s all for now :) many hugs, many kisses, talk soon!
