beauteous week!!!! mainly because it was the 26th anniversary of the week angel was born!! it was so much fun celebrating his birthday. i made him some pasteis de nata bc he became a big fan of them during his trip to portugal last year! another gift is the sometimes annual bookmark! i’ve made him two in the past for his birthday but missed last year. this year’s features jupe as a spaceman :)
i also gave him the gift of watching the 2010s planet of the apes trilogy. we are currently halfway through the last one (war for the planet of the apes). i never watched these bc i don’t like watching animal violence. but they’re raw as fuck. i’m sorry for not appreciating them sooner. i am currently struggling through war. it’s a lot heavier and a lot more intense than the previous entries. it’s still so so good, it’s just hard to watch if ur soft of heart. thankful for the apes trilogy, idk if we’ll go watch the kingdom of the planet of the apes. but i think we will definitely make our way through the original movies eventually!!
angel celebrations continued with a lovely visit to the american museum of natural history. we cheers-ed outside with an edible and proceeded to teehee our way through the museum. it was so much fun and the perfect choice bc the day was a little dreary and rainy. we broke out the sketchbooks and did a drawing challenge of picking out an animal, studying it for 30 seconds, and drawing it from memory. we pointed at bugs, spoke to a jeweler, ate some chicken soup, laid beneath the whale for a while and then somehow found our way home
and that wasn’t even the last thing we did for his birthday!!! we ended it on a triumphant and delicious note on monday (his real birthday). after work we ran out to the mama’s TOO! west village location and snagged some slices. angel filmed a pizza tour video for work w a michelin star chef and they went to mama’s TOO! in UWS (6:57 to hear angel’s voice hehe). angel freaking loves this place and always said whenever we’re in the UWS that i HAVE to try the poached pear slice at mama’s TOO! and we found out on sunday that they opened a location in the west village, so obviously we had to go the next day. bro he was fucking right. poached pear went so totally hard. i’m not typically a sweet or honey on pizza lover besides pineapple but the poached pear was hands down the best slice we got. which is insane bc all the other slices were some of the best slices of pizza i’ve had in new york. so delicious, so delectable. and bonus points for not making me feel like shit afterwards!! i did not feel greasy and tummy rumbly. my tummy loves mama’s TOO! pls visit mama’s TOO! she is grossly underrated and definitely one of the best square slices in new york. $25 worth of pizza was 1.5 meals for angel and i! each!! very fairly priced pizza i say!
ALSO! dearest most precious hannah sent me nail supplies for my birthday which was such a nice surprise. i can’t wait to play with them :)
my work for nike and sky brown has been going well until sky got injured!!!! sorry to this very nice girl. but it also means that the event i was designing for got significantly narrowed so here are the things i’ve worked on that possibly won’t see the light of day, but i really like it so. here.
i started freelancing for mls again hehe, they tagged me in for skills challenge this year, which is an event i’ve owned for them for a while now. a return to basics and refreshing. dreaming about players like messi, giroud, herrera, and yoshida seeing these in july 😚
omg and stunning news. cabin trip is turning into survivor cabin trip!! my next week will be occupied with crafting and planning and collab-ing. much to look forward to!!!!

in addition to watching the apes trilogy, angel and i have been making our way through the x-men franchise. we watched the original three a couple weeks ago and most recently watched x-men: apocalypse…….. what a kooky franchise!! first class remains one of the best superhero movies ever made. rewatching the original trilogy has made me reevaluate my x-men biases. turns out i only liked cyclops because of james marsden not bc cyclops is at all appealing. only character worth rooting for is magneto idk
x-men 97 has been really fun to watch as a jubilee fan, she’s been so slighted by past x-men movies!!! save my fireworks queen!! we are currently halfway through. honestly have been a little intimidated to continue bc episode 5 went abs crazy and in a direction that i couldn’t have predicted (in a good and heartbreaking way). x-men 97 is filling an arcane-shaped adult animation hole <3
moonstruck: 1987 gem of gems. a rom com so charming it won cher an oscar!! they truly don’t make rom coms like this anymore, where whole hearts are left out on film. nicolas cage is genuinely….. attractive here? i was shocked in the most delightful way. can see this being a go-to rainy day movie forever and ever
on top of everything else i did in the past week, we went to a surviovr watch party at crystal lake on wednesday. and holyyyyy shit did we pick a great week to go. will not spoil this week’s episode but it was a reallll good one (following a string of really great survivor episodes). the place absolutely exploded during tribal council. the host was really cute and fun and the drinks were good!! will pop into this place every now and again in the future :)
i paused on reading jade legacy (the third and last green bone saga book) bc angel is making his way through jade war + rat girls are reading acotar!! i’m around 60% through, making really good progress. the story really picked up and i’m fully engaged now (also helps that syd seems to read at the speed of light when faeries are involved)
ok i really think that’s all!!! no huge plans for the weekend. angel and i are going to see la chimera tomorrow, maybe hit up win son. will take it easy to prep for cabin trip!!
